In 2014, Cranborne Chase Cider, an independent cider producer based in Blandford Forum, partnered with Save Energy UK to reduce energy costs and align its operations with environmentally responsible practices. With energy intensive production processes on-site, the business required a sustainable solution to manage long-term electricity demands.
A 306-panel solar PV system was installed across suitable roof space on the site’s agricultural buildings. The system was designed to meet a large proportion of the energy required for cider production, storage, and day-to-day business operations.
Since installation, the system has delivered consistent, high-performance results with minimal maintenance required. It continues to offset a significant portion of the company’s energy use, contributing to lower overheads and improved operational efficiency.
Energy Cost Reduction: The installation significantly reduced electricity bills and continues to deliver strong financial returns.
Operational Resilience: By generating a large share of its own energy, the business has improved its resilience against fluctuating grid prices.
Sustainability Leadership: Cranborne Chase Cider has strengthened its brand by demonstrating a clear commitment to sustainability.
Reliable Long-Term Output: More than a decade on, the system remains fully operational and continues to support the company’s growth.
