Get a QuoteQ1: How do solar panels work?
Solar panels are made up of lots of small units called photovoltaic cells. When exposed to sunlight, the electrons in the cells’ atoms are knocked free, generating a flow of electricity. This electricity can be used to power your home or exported to the grid.
Q2: What are the benefits of solar panels?
Solar panels are a fantastic investment, offering a wide range of long and short-term benefits. By installing solar panels onto your home, you:
Q3: How many solar panels do I need?
The number of solar panels you need depends on the size of your home and the amount of energy you use. Most solar systems are made up of 6 to 18 panels.
If you’re not sure, give us a ring on 01202 986262. We will calculate how many solar panels you need by looking at your household’s hourly energy requirement and the peak sunlight hours for your area.
Q4: When do solar panels produce the most energy?
Solar panels work best on long summer days, when they are exposed to the most direct sunlight. They still work in the winter and when it’s cloudy, albeit with a reduced output – so long as it’s daylight, they will generate energy.
Q5: How much do domestic solar panels cost?
Depending on the size of your home, the type of panel you choose, and the number of panels in your system, the upfront installation cost for domestic solar panels can vary. On average, you can expect to spend between £5,000 and £7,500, though optional extras such as solar battery storage will increase this figure.
If you’re wondering how much it would cost to install solar pv panels at your own home, give us a call on 01202 986262 – we can survey your property and give you a much more accurate estimate.
Q6: What is the return on investment for solar panels?
After installing solar panels on your home, you can typically expect to recoup your installation costs within 6 to 9 years. Selling your excess electricity will help you do this even faster! Paid for with the money you would have given to the utility company anyway. Having solar installed will typically return 8 to 12 percent tax-free return on your investment.
